Google Earth is a virtual globe, map and geographic information program, and was created by Keyhole, Inc, a company acquired by Google in 2004.

This Technology provides a way to look at globes and maps, and zoom in to see terrain, 3D buidlings.

Runs on Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Mac OS X 10.3.9 and above, Linux, and FreeBSD.

Application in Innovation Edit

A teacher could use google earth so students can visually see what places look like. Gives a better understanding then a simple map.

Allows students to see up to date virtual images that they may not gain from a text book.

Applications in Community Edit

Google earth also contains applications like google ocean and google sky that can all allow students to see images they wouldnt normally see outside. This can be used to enhance group projects through exploration.
